Heather Hubbard
I spent much of my childhood in rural Oklahoma and the Ozarks where I developed a fascination with nature and its forms: seed pods, bryophytes, crawdads. Moving to California provided me even more inspiration with its unique and diverse ecosystems. These inspirations make their way into my ceramic work and encaustic painting quite easily with their organic forms and textures. In much of my more recent work I also explore the expression of self-actualization, reflection, and gratitude. I find that the transformative nature of clay and wax offers an endless array of creative possibilities.
I currently live in Fresno, California, where I am a full-time artist and a part-time Biology instructor at Clovis Community College. I am also a member of Scarab Creative Arts in Downtown Fresno where I do much of my ceramic work.
