Beginning Wheel with Judas


Meeting Weekly for 6 Weeks

June 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, August 4

6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.




Learn the basics of throwing clay on the wheel.

* You'll learn proper allignment of your body with the wheel for the most efficient and ergonomic position.  

* Throwing will begin with learning to center your clay, open the clay, and pull it into a cylinder.

* You'll learn to use a pottery rib to fashion your cylinder  into a rounded shape.

* Glazing and firing will finish your piece.




You will be supplied with one 25 pound block of clay. Glazes and the firing fee for this clay are included in the supply fee. 



Small plastic bucket

Glaze Brushes

     A good brush to start with is a sable fan size 4

Large utility sponge

Basic pottery tool kit, such as the Kemper Pottery Tool Kit 

     potter's rib 

     steel scraper

     wood modeling tool

     needle tool

     ribbon tool

     loop tool

     studio sponge

     wire clay cutter

Optional: Apron, hand towel


*You can purchase a beginner's kit with all of these tools  at Clay Mix in Fresno.
